TikTok has taken down a widely criticized video posted by Huda Kattan, founder of the global cosmetics empire Huda Beauty, in which she allegedly promoted antisemitic conspiracy theories involving Israel. The platform cited violations of its policies on hate speech and misinformation.

In the video, Kattan is said to have claimed that Israel was responsible for every world war, the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks** on Israel. These remarks drew swift condemnation from human rights groups, Jewish organizations, and many online users across social media.

Organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the American Jewish Committee (AJC) called the video “dangerous, deeply offensive,” and “reliant on antisemitic tropes that have led to real-world violence. This kind of rhetoric feeds into centuries-old conspiracy theories that have endangered Jewish communities around the world, an ADL spokesperson said.
Following public outcry, many fans, influencers, and human rights activists called for a boycott of Huda Beauty products. Some online retailers and partners are reportedly re-evaluating their association with the brand.
No Response Yet from Huda or Huda Beauty
As of now, neither Huda Kattan nor her beauty brand has issued an official statement apology, or clarification regarding the video or its content. This silence has only fueled further backlash, with some accusing the entrepreneur of trying to avoid accountability while profiting from a massive consumer base.
Past Activism and Present Contradictions
Kattan has previously used her platform to advocate for human rights, including donating to causes in Gaza Black Lives Matter, and refugee relief efforts. However, critics argue that such past activism does not excuse the promotion of conspiracy narratives that echo historical antisemitism.
The incident has placed Huda Beauty—once celebrated for its founder-led vision and inclusivity—at the center of a serious public relations crisis. Some marketing experts suggest this controversy could harm its global reputation, especially in Western markets.
Huda Kattan’s fall from grace—at least in some public spheres—highlights the power and peril of influencer-led brands in a hyper-connected world. With millions of followers and a multi-million dollar company on the line, all eyes now turn to whether she will speak—and what she will say next.
